Buy Good Art: Helen Lush
Bit of catch-up going on here. My occasional posts about art which has taken our eye, prised open our coffers and now adorns various parts of our home environment finally include one about these prints we ordered from Helen Lush quite a while ago.
Two of her monoprint collages currently greet guests staying overnight - or even longer for those who have the stomach for more of me!
Embracing and developing this particular approach since 2017, Helen combines realistic watercolour with the pattern and textures of printed plant materials. The resulting symbiosis makes for mildly disconcerting images which ultimately become mysterious, verging on magical. The familiar underpins everything but it is seen through new eyes and re-made.
We will continue to congratulate ourselves* for discovering Helen and being able to enjoy small examples of her work in our own home.
*Full, honest disclosure - Mrs Cheoff ‘discovered’ Helen’s artwork on the internet and I merely went along with her choice because I immediately recognised her magnificent good taste and saw the chance to bring something special into our home.
No commission in this for me. My reward will be in the knowledge that you are now going to follow links here and grab a little ‘Lush’ creativity for yourselves. Over to you.

Neil Gaiman exhorts us all to ‘Make Good Art’. This is just one of a series of posts in my blog where I advocate that you also buy good art. Creativity deserves to be rewarded and fed.
